I am using Vista Home Premium on a Dell XPS 420. Windows Media Player 11 does not detect my mp3 player for some reason. I have used Device Manager to both disable the player and then enable it and also uninstalled the player, disconnected it and then reconnected it. Drivers load and Device Manger reports all is well. This is a Sansa Fuze and I have all the latest firmware updates installed. There is nothing on the Microsoft website about this other than disabling/enabling the device.

You can't remove WMP 11 as it is part of the operating system and you can't roll it back to WMP 10. So, anybody have any ideas of what I might be able to do to fix this problem?

    Thanks

Maybe the MP3 has its own manager to use. Some companies such as iriver do that

Actually, the Sansa does not use its own manager. i did however find the source of the problem.

In all those services that start at boot-up there were two that I found disabled: "Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity" and "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service." I set those to Automatic mode and viola, the problem has gone away and my Sansa is now recognized by all relevant programs.

Why they got disabled in the first place is beyond me.
