Shrink C and create single volume D, then Factory Restore again but only for C. Then shrink C again to get free space, then just delete D and indeed, unallocated space are joined together and create single volume again D. Say you have a block of C, free space, D, and E, and you want to extend E, that is not possible. (Thanks Bill.) There are third party programs you can use to reclaim the free space for your Vista partition. Most Linux 'Live Discs' have parted as one of their standard disc tools, and could use this to extent you Vista partition without putting it on your hard drive.<br /> What I would recommend is that you download (or get a geek friend to) and burn one of the many Linux rescue discs and use this and keep it handy. Distro Watch Com has a full range but RIP or Magic Partition would be the best.<br /> I would advise all Windows users to have one of these discs on hand.<br /> If you felt adventurous, you could load one of the many very good Linux distros and load them on your free space. I suggest (in order of preference) Ubuntu, Suse, Mandriva, Fedora, or Fedora.
