I have been irritated by this issue since I installed Vista Ultimate a few months ago. I have multiple disks in RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD. I have updated my Intel RAID drivers, tried various suggestions posted in forums such as "turn on UAC", install the MS hotfix for network copying, turn off thumbnail generation in Explorer properties(this actually works great but I want thumbnails). In the end I just started using PowerDesk Pro instead of Explorer and I have no more issues with copying/moving files or folders regardless of file size or number of files in a folder. It starts the file copy/move immediately and does it very quickly. It allows me to keep the annoying UAC turned off, keep thumbnail generation turned on, and all is well in my world...

Jane asked "Does it cost to contact their support service to fix this little problem? What is a hot-fix?"

A hot-fix, sometimes called a patch, is basically an update to core system files that has been tested to ensure it solves the specific, targeted problem, but which has not been fully tested under all the conditions that a "normal" service pack would be. This means that it will definitely fix the problem, assuming you have carefully read and understood MS's description of the problem it is intended to fix and that description EXACTLY matches your problem, but it may break something else. It's a "use at your own risk" kind of deal.

No, there's no charge for requesting the hot-fix if you use the correct link off the MS KB page. (The first one, when I checked, but subject to change, so read carefully.) But, as that page says, if you have something else wrong and/or you use the wrong link and go through the normal support request process, there may be a fee.

Im Haveing Trouble Deleteing And Copying Files. When The "calculating time remaining" box comes up when its suposed to be deleting it just sits there and says " Speed: 0 KB/S" it sits there for 2 minutes then says windows explore is no longer responding. i cant get rid of the files and i have them on my desktop. its mainly Quicktime movies that do this. but any file that uses the vista delete and copying function seems to make it crash. its driving me inscane and ive spent days looking for an answer and havent found much. someone help me please!

Do nothing!!!
>just check for the third party application that may be conflicting and disable that
>increase RAM
>check for the processes that may be running in the background and disable them
>delete startup items

please revert back for further clarification and any other issues on: s007sss@gmail.com
