Please, desperate - Is there a 3rd party application that will do an XP-like search in Vista? would WINDOWS 7 do any better? I need to find everything - like the old XP search, Vista is not finding all files with my keywords and my boss is getting mad because she has shown me examples that I missed using Vista search.

Hi,
I want to find all files on my computer that exceed 10MB so i can free up space. Advanced Vista Search shows nothing. In "Name:" I put in *.* but doesnt appear to work. I much prefer XP search.
Any ideas how to find all files on C: at a size greater than eg 10MB?
Thanks

Here it is, January 5, 2010... and I still can't search a text file in a known location containing a known string of text. Vista is fucked and Jerry is smoking crack.

I purchased a Dell Mini Inspiron then another Inspiron 1011v from Dell, then an Acer AspireOne in red colour, finally decided to give HP an oportunity. As soon as I received the whole package i was inmediatly convinced that HP was again doing a great work in giving an awesome welcome to their products. The HP Mini was combined with a HP Wireless Comfort Mouse (Black) Mouse, a 6 cell battery AC adapter, an USB 2.0 extension port and a HP NF869AA Mini Notebook Sleeve.

The whole package contained everything you can expect: user friendly manual, first time installation guide, drivers, warranty, registration papers and so on.

Nothing works. I have tried all of it. There is no way to search for text inside of files anymore. It's the single most stupid thing Microsoft could have done. On the plus side I am pleased to report Vista hasn't crippled my ability to play Warcraft.

The bottom line is that the SEARCH feature in VISTA is horribly crippled and limited.

It does not do HALF of the things you could do in XP, and it is horrendously slow!

You can't use many of the useful Freeware programs that FIXED things in XP, like TREEPRINT any more.

Worst part of it is that it is OH SO SLOW, and ungainly.
