Adding an RSS subscription to the RSS gadget in the sidebar

This may have been a piece of cake for IE users but as a Firefox user, it took me a while until I could find out how I was able to subscribe to a certain feed and have it displayed on my Windows Sidebar. Strangely enough, if you right click on the Gadget’s options, the only thing you are allowed to do is to select which feed you want to view. After some searching, I realized that you must subscribe to the feed from Internet Explorer 7 first.

You can do this very quickly in three simple steps.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. To subscribe to a particular site’s feed, click on the RSS feed button next to your tabs.rss_button.JPG
  3. Click on Subscribe to this feed.

Now when you head over to your RSS feed gadget, you can select the feed you had just subscribed to.

Hopefully that feed does not require a password, cause Vista will not do it then :-(
