Restoring “Run” in Start Menu
Remember the convenient run feature in the Start Menu that let you do everything on XP without having to look for it? It even saved the history of what you typed in. So is the run feature gone for good on Vista? Not quite.
You can easily access the Run Feature by pressing the Window Button + R on your keyboard. What about “Run†in the Start Menu? Although Vista doesn’t clearly indicate it, the Search bar in your Start Menu actually doubles as the run feature. If you want to access the command prompt, just type in cmd and press enter. It works in exactly the same way as typing the command in the Run Window.

If you wish to have the Run button appear in your start menu, you’ll have to go thorugh a few steps to do so.
Simply right click on your Start Button -> select Properties -> click Customize beside the Start Menu Bar you are using. After this, you will be taken to the Customize Start Menu window. Scroll down until you find Run Command.
Check the “Run Command†checkbox.

And your run button is back.

For those that prefer not to go through alot of trouble just to get the “RUN” option there are two VERY simple ways of launching “RUN”
1. The good old fashion (It never fails)
2. This is for those that never learned to use hotkeys, simply click the startbutton (or “pearl” if you like) type in run and hit enter.
There you are, no hocus pocus
